Ben Hudson
Graduate Systems Engineer
I support systems engineering activities on our customer's programmes, primarily working on the Open Source Satellite Programme and developing KISPE's attitude and orbit control systems (AOCS) capabilities.
I am student at the University of Southampton, studying for an MEng in Aeronautics and Astronautics with a specialisation in spacecraft engineering.
Designing and building spacecraft has been my goal for as long as I can remember. I am thrilled to now be working on real space systems.
Outside of work and studying, I love to swim, box and read fiction. I have also played rugby in the past.
My professional designations and accomplishments
I have completed three years of my four-year, Integrated Masters degree and I am on track to achieve a 1:1 honours.
In 2020 I presented at the UK Student Space Conference in Birmingham, winning Airbus' Student Presentation Competition for my University project: Design of a Space Mission to Enhance the Event Horizon Telescope.
I originally joined the KISPE team in 2019 as an Intern, under the UK Space Agency's Space Placements in Industry (SPIN) scheme. I was delighted to be back at KISPE again for my industrial placement year returning to University later this year to complete my Masters degree. I will be joining KISPE as a permanent member of the team in Summer 2022.
How I contribute to the KISPE customer experience
I am keen to make a positive contribution to the space industry and to further the ways in which humanity can utilise and explore space.
I work in a conscientious manner, diligently completing tasks to progress customer's programmes.
