DESCRIPTION

We're looking for an Astrodynamics Engineer to support our space situational awareness, astrodynamics and space systems projects and missions.

The Astrodynamics Engineer will be responsible for modelling, simulation, and analysis in areas such as:

  • Space mission design
  • Guidance navigation and control
  • Trajectory design,
  • Conjunction analysis,
  • Orbital manoeuvres,
  • Orbit estimation,
  • End of Life modelling,
  • Re-entry predictions,
  • Space debris
  • Space situational awareness.
KEY SKILLS
  • Bachelor's, Master's Degree or Doctorate in aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics or other related technical or engineering discipline.
  • 1-5 years of experience in orbital mechanics, orbital dynamics, orbit design, astrodynamics.
  • Proficiency in software development with one or more of the following programming languages: C++, C, Fortran
  • Proficiency with scripting and analysis tools such as Python, Matlab, SIMULINK.
  • Experience in modelling, simulation and analysis.
  • Experience with satellite design and/or space system research & development
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to generate high-quality customer-facing documentation and present information clearly to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting workloads.

We're looking for a spacecraft AOCS systems engineer with a strong background in guidance navigation and control, together with a system focus to support our space systems projects and missions.

The spacecraft AOCS systems engineer will be responsible for the design, development, execution and validation of a guidance navigation and control / attitude and orbit control system; understanding and implementing both hardware and control algorithm solutions for a complete cradle-to-grave AOCS solution, within the bounds of a programme's cost and schedule.

In addition, the spacecraft AOCS systems engineer will be required to perform wider systems engineering activities, including being responsible for the architecture, technical trades, risk analysis, requirement tracking and the technical progress and end-to-end execution of satellite programmes.

KEY SKILLS
  • 3-5 years of experience, specifically in satellite guidance, navigation and control, in algorithms, hardware and design subject areas.
  • Ability to understand mission goals and objectives and translate them into a pragmatic technical solution.
  • Ability to model, simulate, implement, test and execute satellite attitude and orbit control algorithms and flight hardware throughout all phases of missions from concept definition through to project Kick-off and satellite End-Of-Life.
  • Background in small satellite engineering.
